Life as a PADI Divemaster | Trawangan Dive Career Development Center| Diving in the Gili Islands

Taking your PADI Divemaster Course in Gili Islands is a fantastic idea if you’re looking to gain some real experience, whilst also living on a tropical island. Trawangan Dive is the only PADI Career Development Center in the entire area of Lombok and the Gili Islands meaning that all of our professional level training is geared towards career progression. The dive center is one of the more popular dive outfits here on Gili Trawangan and a large volume of guests choose to dive and train here allowing PADI Divemasters to gain a vast amount of experience.

Typically it is recommended that people spend approximately 5 weeks on their Divemaster Internship allowing them to really develop their skills and knowledge, as well as their ability to deal with divers.
The PADI Divemaster course is the first professional level within the PADI System of education. Once certified it allows you to work as a training assistant on PADI courses and programs, supervise certified divers during pleasure diving experiences, and conduct some PADI programs independently. During your internship program you will be assessed through knowledge development, practical applications and final exams.

To enroll on the PADI Divemaster Course you must hold the PADI Rescue Diver certification, or hold the certifications for Advanced and Rescue training from an alternative recognized training agency. Prospective Divemaster trainees are also required to be over 18 years old and have a current medical statement declaring you fit to dive; signed by a physician within 12 months prior to your enrollment on the course. Another prerequisite is to have 40 dives before the start of your divemaster training (60 on completion, including night deep and navigation dives).

Although life as a PADI Divemaster Trainee at Trawangan Dive will consist of continuous training to develop your knowledge, skill and confidence; there is also a large social aspect and often you will forge friendships through the course and through the dive center and can be considered as the first steps in social networking as a PADI professional. There are regular social events organized by the dive center including activities, dinners and even our famous Tuesday night quiz so although taking your Divemaster Internship at Trawangan Dive can be hard work, it can also be a lot of fun.

Once your PADI Divemaster is complete there is a huge range of other courses available here at our PADI CDC Center. One popular training route is explore Technical Diving which trains you to safely extend your limits. Another popular course to add to you Divemaster is the Biorock Indonesia program, which teaches participants about coral conservation and ways in which our marine environment can be protected. During the course you will actually build and install and maintain a Biorock structure.
